1. Introduction
Making teleport tablets can be a good way to get some gp's, as well as getting magic experience.
When making teleport tablets, or Tabs for short, you get the experience you'd otherwise get from actually teleporting.
Since tabs only take one spot in the inventory, it's a popular choice when teleporting to a location on RuneScape.
Tabs are not affected by the spellbook you're currently using, whether you're making them or using them, which again makes them popular.
2. Requirements
To be able to make tabs, there is only one requirement needed - your magic level!
The level requirement depends on what kind of Tab you wish to make.
For example Varrock Tabs need 25 magic, while House Tabs require 40.
3. Items
To make tabs you need the following: Soft clay and teleport runes for the tablet you wish to make.
A tip here would be to bring along an elemental staff like air staff, as this will give you one more slot for soft clay.
If you bring a staff, you will have two spaces for law rune and the other rune (for varrock it would be fire and law) and 26 for soft clay.
To use Varrock tab as an examples you'll need 1 law rune, 1 fire rune and 3 air (none if you use air staff) and one soft clay per tab you wish to make.
4. Location
For making tabs you need a lectern. A lectern is basically a piece of furniture you can put in your Player Owned House (POH).
What kind of tab you are going to make will reflect what level the lectern needs to be.
Oak Lectern (lv 40 Construction):
- Level 1 Enchant Jewellery (Sapphire)
- Varrock Tab
Eagle Lectern (lv 47 Construction):
- Level 1 Enchant Jewellery (Sapphire)
- Varrock Tab
- Falador Tab
- Lumbridge Tab
Demon Lectern (lv 47 Contruction):
- Level 1 Enchant Jewellery (Sapphire)
- Level 2 Enchant Jewellery (Emerald)
- Varrock Tab
- Bones to Bananas
Teak Eagle Lectern (lv 57 Construction):
- Level 1 Enchant Jewellery (Sapphire)
- Varrock Tab
- Falador Tab
- Lumbridge Tab
- Camelot Tab
- Ardougne Tab
Teak Demon Lectern (lv 57 Construction)
- Level 1 Enchant Jewellery (Sapphire)
- Level 2 Enchant Jewellery (Emerald)
- Level 3 Enchant Jewellery (Ruby)
- Level 4 Enchant Jewellery (Diamond)
- Varrock Tab
- Bones to Bananas
Mahogany Eagle Lectern (lv 67 Construction):
- Level 1 Enchant Jewellery (Sapphire)
- Varrock Tab
- Falador Tab
- Lumbridge Tab
- Camelot Tab
- Ardougne Tab
- Watchtower Tab
- House Tab
Mahogany Demon Lectern (lv 67 Contruction):
- Level 1 Enchant Jewellery (Sapphire)
- Level 2 Enchant Jewellery (Emerald)
- Level 3 Enchant Jewellery (Ruby)
- Level 4 Enchant Jewellery (Diamond)
- Level 5 Enchant Jewellery (Dragonstone)
- Level 6 Enchant Jewellery (Onyx)
- Varrock Tab
- Bones to Bananas
- Bones to Peaches
Now, if you don't have the Construction level required for the tab you want to make, do not fear.
There is a special world and location for this (combined with Gilded Altar), W330 Yanille.
And what's a world without a CC? "07 Altar" is where you will find an available host.
Remember to come back to Dawn's CC after you've found your host!
5. Methods
There is really only two methods of getting this done:
1) Run to bank
- Yanille bank is fairly close to the POH, which is why it's the most popular choice for doing this.
Once you have located the bank, bring out the desired amount of runes and soft clay and head west until you see
the purple portal. Enter "a friends house" and type in the host's name. Locate the lectern and "Make all" tabs.
After you've made all the tabs, click on options (wrench symbol) -> House options -> Leave house
(This is faster than locating the exit portal and should save you a few seconds each inventory) and run bank to the bank.
For this method I would highly suggest you bring some weight reducing clothing like Gracefull, Boots of Lightness and Spottier cape
cause you will occasionally run out of run (lame pun intended).
2) Teleporting
For this method you need to have 50 Contruction (to be able to move your house to Yanille).
Fill up your inventory with the supplies (runes and soft clay), but instead of bringing 26 soft clay, you bring 25
and the last spot goes to House Tabs. If you're actually making house tabs, then this method is perfect for you.
Since you will need to teleport to your house, you can start off at any bank you want. Simply use a House Tab,
leave your house and join the host's house. When you're done making the tabs use one of the hosts teleport options.
Mounted glory -> Edgeville and Kharyll (Canifis) are popular choices here. And repeat.
Note: An easy way to get to Yanille is either to teleport to either Castle Wars and run east, Watchtower teleport or simply
use the new Minigame teleport system (Nightmare Zone).
6. Exp & Money
So what can you expect to gain from this?
To be fair, this is more of a moneymaking method rather than a way to get fast exp.
I have calculated the exp to be around 19k/h, though this may vary depending on method and effectiveness.
Unfortunately prices vary a lot, so you will have to check the prices for an updated version of cash/h,
but basically you'll make about 600-630 tabs per hour.
As an example, if you use air staff and make House Tabs with the prices of the moment the guide was written:
Soft clay = 350gp each
Law rune = 240 each
Earth rune = 8gp each
So if you round up that's 600gp to invest per tab, and they easily sell for 1k each.
400gp profit X 600 made/h = 240k cash per hour.
I hope you enjoyed this little guide of how to gain some gp's with a little magic exp on the side :)
